Moves

How do you count a move? Is it when you move all your stuff, when you change addresses. What about when you do just one or the other or does it have to be both? Do you count when you move, but then come back to the same house that you left most of your stuff at while gone? Okay, so I count 14 times that we've moved all of our stuff over the last 12 years of marriage. 16 different addresses we've lived at. The difference comes in the internships where we moved our family for a couple of months with a carload of stuff only - buying or borrowing whatever else we needed when we got there, but not all of our stuff moved. You be the judge....how many times have we moved?
1.Brother Terry's basement: our newly wed apt.
2.Then we lived with Mom and Dad until we found a place: a couple of weeks I think? (We went out at Christmas break to visit, stayed a few extra weeks working the ISP - then went home and got our stuff when it sold and Richard was offered the manager position. When we got back we found our own place as soon as we could.)
3.Then we lived in a box divided into 4 rooms on Gary St. You could see daylight through the corners of the house, but we were happy and it was nice to have 2 bedroooms for the first time - and not just be living in a bedroom.
4.Then we lived on Montelius in our first home we bought. It was nice. Richard is still dreaming of the day he can have a chandelier in the house again.
5.Then we moved back in with Mom and Dad when that sold for a couple of months.
6. Then we lived in Aaron's house on Plum Street for about 4-5 months?
7. We lived in the handicap apt.
8. We moved to a better place on campus, but only stayed a night or two before leaving for Mexico.
9. We lived in Mexico for 6 weeks while Richard did study abroad.
10. We came back to the aforementioned apt. in #8
11. We moved our stuff into a friend's garage for the summer.
12. We lived in Caldwell for the summer in an old amusement park.
13. We came back to school and moved our stuff from their garage (see #11) into a bigger apt.
14. We moved into a bigger apt. down the block (#3 on the way!)

15. We left for another internship and lived in Pocatello for a few weeks (with only what fit in the car). Then our landlord went balistic on us and kicked us out when I told her she needed to provide us with a refrigerator that didn't make our food taste like mold after one day of being in the refrigerator. (This was after a week or two of being there.)
16. So we moved to Rockland. We were there about 6 weeks.
17. We went back to Moscow.
18. We moved to American Falls. Richard's boss' son hinted that he might lose his job if we didn't live in Rockland and I was getting sick from the smoke that came through the vents from the other apartments...so after a few weeks we...
19. Moved to Rockland.
20. We bought a house and moved back to American Falls where we knew we were supposed to have lived all along.
21. We moved to a rental in Middleton.
22. We bought our piece of heaven in Middleton.
23. We moved to our mansion in Caldwell.
24. We were squeezed out of our house in Caldwell by the office and our renters left Middleton so we moved back to Middleton. Only after the big mansion and an addition in the family it feels more like a cracker box now. The boys are loving having some yard, but
25. "The Blooming House." Our landlord in the amusement park (see #12) has offered to let us live in his house (not the same one we were in before, right next to it -designed to look like a Swiss Chalet and it is all decked out in new plastic flowers because he was wanting to reopen the amusement park. I will try to get a picture up soon! You'll love it! We'll probably be moving next week. It needs some cleaning out and I want the kids to finish the next week at school here because they have some big projects they are working on.

You are amazing. That is a LOT of moving. I wish there was a moving fairy to come and move all your stuff and set it up again the way you like it. I suppose if I was super rich I could pay people to do that. Goal: get super rich to get moving fairies.

The moving fairies are also known as the Relief Society and Elders' Quorum. We've already found them and travel around so much to make sure they stay in shape and have opportunities for service and practice! :) The best part about those moving fairies is they are free! Yippee!! I did start developing a complex a few years ago where I didn't want to finish unpacking because every time I felt like I was almost done we moved. Then I decided that was silly and that we'd probably move anyway so now I try to unpack as fast as possible to have as much time between moves fully enjoyable with everything in it's place.
