You can never go wrong taking pictures in a pumpkin patch...or corn maze

My birthday started with me waking up at 6am to get Sam off for school, only he didnt' have school and I couldn't get back to sleep! Not fair! The boys had asked Dad to wake them up so they could make breakfast in bed for me, so at 7:15 I called them, but they were tired and didn't want to get up. They did get up a bit later, but by 8 I was hungry and gave up trying to sleep. I had a lot I wanted to accomplish on the house as well as parent teacher conferences and visiting teaching. Sam had scrambled eggs and diced ham ready by then. They wanted to do more, but I told them I was hungry and to just put it on toast--one of my favorites. Richard had to work the morning, but came home about 1pm I think. For my birthday I wanted to go to a pumpkin patch and get pictures and pumpkins and then come home and carve them. The kids found one that had a corn maze too and I've never done a corn maze so we decided to do that even though it would be very expensive. It didn't open until 4pm which also cut into the plans and then we didn't get there until 5pm. So we did the maze and got out just in time for the pig races and to get Rachel to the bathroom at 6pm. Then the kids shot corn from the corn cannons (the boys' favorite part!) and fed the animals (cows, horses, goats, bunnies). Sarah really liked the bunnies. She liked the other animals too, but only from a distance - a far distance! Then the kids jumped on a giant air pillow. I tried to call the babysitter to tell her we would be home later than we thought, but she was already on her way over so we had to skip the hayride and pumpkin patch. We grabbed McDonalds on the way and dropped the kids off at home, pausing long enough to light the candles on a cake our neighbor had brought over for me and sing to me. Then Richard and I went to a Halloween party some friends were having. They sang to me too just before we left the party. Here are pics of Sarah's birthday and our trip to the corn field. We had planned to go to the zoo for her birthday since she and Rachel had never been, but the kids had primary program practice the morning we had planned to go...and Sarah came down with a fever while they were at the practice. There have only been a few days this whole month that someone has not been sick. I wanted to life to slow down and this helped, but I am not accomplishing much...did manage to make the house a little closer to organized. Bought some new shelving for the hallway...working on refinishing it, but the windy rainy weather did not cooperate to get it done and installed by my birthday as I had hoped. I'd really like to get a flower bed in too, but need some dirt to do that ...and some help to get it and distribute it.

So cute. Everyone is getting so big. Especially Matt and the girls! Happy super late birthday, sounds like it was an action packed day!
