Beginner's Luck and Traditions Passed Down

Two nights ago we played PIT with the kids. We've played with the boys before, but they didn't remember it so they thought we were introducing a new game. The game was a big hit. Mom likes to tell the story of Lois and Kira trying to get into the game and walking on the table when they were too little to be heard amongst the noise of the game. Well now we have our own story, just a little different. Rachel was my partner. She thought the point of the game was to hold the cards out and wiggle them back and forth calling out the number. She didn't get the point of trading though so trying to make a trade was difficult. She'd hold the cards out at the person I told her trade with, swinging them back and forth so they couldn't get them.

Tonight Matthew, Rachel, and I are playing Hi-Ho Cherry-O while waiting for the boys to get home from scouts. She's doing well at recognizing the numbers and picking the right amount. Doesn't get the point of this game either though. She thinks spilling the bucket is something good. She enjoys the game though and has easily won all 4 rounds that we've played.
